Facebook Product Design, Intern in Menlo Park, California
Join a team of designers who are passionate about creating a cutting-edge VR experience and establishing Oculus as an industry leader. As a Product Designer, you will be assisting team leaders in every aspect of the product development process, from conceptualizing the next generation of the VR platform (PC & Mobile) to designing incremental features. You’ll tackle critical questions around what interactions look like in 2D to VR today and for the future. You will be expected to use your full range of product design, interaction design, and visual design skills, and you will help own a wide area of the Oculus experience. You’ll be responsible for designing, researching, prototyping, and creating assets as well as provide UI documentation to optimize the product design workflow. This position is based in Menlo Park.
Synthesize broad and ambiguous business requirements and accomplish them through design
Help establish preliminary processes to align cross-functional teams and provide supporting documentation
Design end-to-end flows, visuals and individually contribute to the product and feature set
Partner design leadership, overseeing the implementation of the user experience from product conception to launch - as well as provide post-launch design support
Clearly articulate design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders
Think holistically across all of Oculus’ products and how every product interacts with one another
Quickly solve issues with your design leads
Advocate for product design within the Oculus company and throughout Facebook
Thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments
Pursuing a BA/BS degree or equivalent in a design related field or pursuing a MA/MS degree or equivalent in a design related field
Graduation dates of Fall 2017, or anytime in: 2018 or 2019
You must have a portfolio link
Proficiency - Adobe suite, Sketch, mobile prototyping tools (Origami, InVision etc)
Experience with designing mobile apps and mobile web
Unity experience a plus, but not necessary
A portfolio featuring examples of both visual and interaction work
Great communication skills Most importantly, you must be passionate about new emerging technologies and be a team player.
