The NPI Materials Planning Manager role is a position to help improve the new product introduction process and transition products through the product release process (EVT, DVT, PVT and MP readiness) more efficiently. This function requires strong understanding of NPI product release process; principles and practices of purchasing, supplier management, materials requirements planning, and the ability to work under minimum supervision. In this role, the candidate will work closely with the Infra Sourcing, MQE, TPM’s & HW Eng product teams and be the Infra Sourcing primary point of contact to aligning commodity & sourcing strategies with product requirements, conducting RFI/RFQ’s, supporting TCO analysis, initiating tasks for purchase request, interface with suppliers on build and ship plans, support BOM accuracy activities, drafting statements of work, amongst other responsibilities as outlined.

Required Skills:

  1. Solving x-functional conflict, project schedule delays and ensuring deliverables are produced on time

  2. Alignment of NPI BOM’s to AVL and commodity technologies

  3. Supplier strategies

  4. Conduct supply risk assessment for lead-time, flexibility and cost to meet NPI schedules, communicate any adverse impacts

  5. Complete TCO analysis to ensure project cost are meeting or beating cost objectives

  6. Help establish schedules & milestones and determine the activities necessary to meet them

  7. Interactions involve strategic and tactical procurement activities in a global environment

  8. Leads from a point of data and solves problems with fact

  9. Willing to make a leap of faith and take on risk even if the numbers don’t make sense!

    1. Must self-initiate, self-assess, self-correct, operate in med / low maintenance environment. Driven from within

    2. Candidate is self-aware of things that need to be improved (in oneself)

    3. Candidate exhibits a natural curiosity/desire to learn more

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated experience at medium/large scale cross functional project management – schedule, scope and deliverable management

  2. Knowledgeable of EMS/ODM/JDM/OEM business models, consignment & turnkey materials management, cost modeling, supply chain design, and reverse logistics

  3. Experience with NPI product phase gate checklist items

  4. Understanding and/or hands on experience of principles and practices of purchasing, experience with RFI/RFQ’s, materials requirements planning, purchasing law, and the ability to work with suppliers under minimum supervision

  5. Understanding of how server and networking products work / understanding of the systems architecture

  6. Demonstrated ability to drive a plan to bring resolution to differing opinions, reach out across functional boundaries to drive collaboration and share credit in a team environment
