Facebook Experimental Physicist in Menlo Park, California


Sensing is a key ingredient in developing great virtual reality technology. We are looking for an exceptional Experimental Physicist with a proven track record with optical systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in detailed analysis of optical pipelines. The role requires deep understanding of optical design. In this role, the candidate will have significant impact on our sensor design. This position is part of Oculus’ computer vision group and includes close collaboration with optical designers and computer vision engineers. You'll be part of a team solving challenges at the forefront of computer vision, transforming virtual reality from dream to reality. We are looking for a creative engineer, passionate about solving hard and exciting computer vision and sensing problems.

Required Skills:

  1. Participating in cutting edge research in computer vision

  2. Designing, conducting and analyzing optical systems

  3. Defining quality and performance metrics for our optical design

  4. Researching and prototyping optical setups

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. MS or PhD degree in Optics, Physics or related technical field

  2. Experience in designing and conducting optical lab experiments

  3. Experience with consumer electronics

  4. Practical knowledge of image processing

  5. 5+ years of experience developing with MatLab

  6. Prototyping skills
