Summary:

The Energy Access team supports Facebook’s mission by accelerating access to electricity in locations where connectivity is limited by missing or inadequate energy infrastructure. The Program Manager will develop and run projects that support the development and deployment of energy access technology. The most competitive candidates will have deep technical expertise in energy technology and experience with open, collaborative ecosystems for emerging technology.

Required Skills:

  1. Support an open innovation ecosystem that accelerates the commercialization and deployment of transformational energy access technology.

  2. Work closely with internal and external partners to identify and implement high-impact technology projects.

  3. Manage complex new and existing cross-functional projects, including defining milestones and ensuring timely deliverables through project completion.

  4. Cultivate and maintain a deep up-to-date understanding of energy access technology and markets.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 8+ years total experience in energy access, power engineering, or open source technology project management

  2. Ability to forge partnerships and to independently develop and run projects in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment

  3. Demonstrated leadership in defining and communicating a vision and fostering agreement of technical and non-technical stakeholders to catalyze innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Academic background and industry experience in power engineering, particularly in grid modernization and distributed energy resources.

  2. Understanding of the energy access ecosystem: technology, key players, business models, primary issues in different geographies, etc.

  3. Hands-on experience with the design, testing, deployment, and/or operation of microgrids

  4. Experience with open source technology projects.

  5. Experience delivering a product to market or managing projects in emerging markets.

  6. Experience deploying connectivity equipment or other critical loads in energy-poor environments
