Facebook Employment Tax Manager in Menlo Park, California

Facebook is seeking a Tax Manager to join its team based in Menlo Park, California. This position will be the primary tax resource to help support numerous groups across Facebook by analyzing the company’s tax obligations for a wide variety of issues related to programs and benefits provided to our employees, both inside and outside the U.S. Many of the tax issues will be novel and a successful candidate will need to be comfortable operating in an environment with ambiguities where significant judgement is needed to resolve issues. You also must have the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and work closely and proactively with numerous functional teams across our organization. This position will report to the VP of Tax.

Required Skills:

  1. This position will address a wide variety of issues, including:
  2. Working with numerous teams around to world to analyze all issues related to employee fringe benefits, ranging from developing our philosophies on a global and local level to internal communications to designing processes and controls to ensure these programs comply with applicable tax laws

  3. Partnering closely with our Payroll and Global Mobility teams to assess and implement the proper reporting requirements for all relevant tax issues related to our employee programs

  4. Partnering closely with our Equity, Payroll and Global Mobility teams to manage the tax implications of our equity programs (primarily RSUs) in 35+ countries, including coordination with outside advisors and implementing internal processes to ensure compliance with applicable laws

  5. Working closely with our Benefits teams to provide advice on global employee benefits programs generally, funding practices, ERISA or similar issues, including working with outside advisors when needed

  6. Provide advice on the proper tax treatment of executive compensation and other benefits

  7. Working with the finance, tax, and other teams across the company to support employment and payroll tax audits

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 12+ years of relevant tax experience in Big 4 and/or tech industry

  2. Bachelors degree in tax or related field

    1. Technical tax knowledge with demonstrated experience in tax planning, tax compliance, and tax controversy

    2. Experience operating autonomously and managing projects, priorities, and stakeholders

    3. Experience communicating relevant tax information and issues to non-tax and non-finance partners throughout a company

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degrees with emphasis in Taxation
