WhatsApp is seeking a talented Data Science Manager to join the WhatsApp Business and Analytics Team. You must have flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, business and organizational needs. In addition, you must have the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, small but growing environment and work proactively with various teams across the organization, including engineering, product, business, customer support, human resources, finance and legal. This is a full-time position based with the WhatsApp team at Facebook HQ in Menlo Park, California and will report to WhatsApp's Head of Growth & Partnerships.

Required Skills:

  1. Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our users interact with our core products

  2. Partner with Product and Engineering teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities

  3. Inform, influence, support, and execute our product decisions

  4. Build/maintain reports, dashboards, and metrics to monitor the performance of our products

  5. Mine massive amounts of data and extract useful product insights

  6. Manage development of data resources, gather requirements, organize sources, and support product launches

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 3+ years of experience in managing other team members in a formal or informal capacity

  2. 4+ years of experience doing quantitative analysis

  3. 2+ years of experience in an analytical role in a technology company, consulting, investment banking, or product management

  4. 2+ years of experience with SQL or other programming languages

  5. Ability to initiate and drive projects to completion with minimal guidance

  6. Ability to communicate the results of analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degrees

  2. Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, or related quantitative field.

  3. Understanding of statistical analysis, experience with packages, such as R, MATLAB, SPSS, SAS, Stata, etc

  4. Experience with large data sets and distributed computing (Hive/Hadoop)
