Facebook seeks a Policy Communications Manager to support a wide range of initiatives and programmes for the EMEA Policy Communications team in London. This role will provide cross-functional support for a wide variety of policy and communications issues, focusing on content. A key part of the role will be handling and responding to media requests, writing statements and responses, and providing background information to help journalists understand Facebook’s policies and features.

Required Skills:

  1. Lead communications activities on some of Facebook's most important policy issues across EMEA, focusing on content

  2. Manage in-bound press inquiries on a range of issues

  3. Develop and pitch stories

  4. Prepare messaging and other external materials such as blog posts and videos

  5. Support product launches, policy advocacy, and other announcements

  6. Work with comms colleagues across EMEA and global policy, legal, product, partnership, and operations teams to build, understand and communicate corporate and product policies that support and protect our reputation

  7. Create sustainable programmes that help educate the press, policy makers and other groups on how Facebook works

  8. Develop proactive PR campaigns to educate new and existing users on issues related to sensitive content and safety

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Proven communications experience

  2. Ability to work under tight deadlines

  3. Experience in public affairs, consumer communications, crisis communications or issues management

  4. Strong writing skills, with experience in distilling complex policy or technology concepts into plain language

  5. Strong media relationships with a diverse range of reporters and bloggers

  6. Experience managing diverse cross-functional stakeholder relations in fast-paced and ambiguous environments

  7. Experience developing outreach programs
