Facebook SMB Communications Manager, DACH in Hamburg, Germany

Summary:

Facebook seeks an experienced Communications Manager for our Small and Mid-Sized Business (SMB) activities and campaigns in DACH. This role is a combination of communications primary designed to support the digitization of SMB as well as supporting the overall business narrative via projects connecting with Facebook's core advertising product suite, as well as newer business tools. These include our “Digital Durchstarten” initiative aimed at helping SMBs with digitization.

The successful candidate has deep product knowledge for all Facebook marketing solutions, strong media contacts—both in business and vertical trade press, as well as tech outlets and general dailies. To amplify proactive press campaigns, this person will work closely and cross functionally with different stakeholders across various Facebook teams, such as our communications organization and our business and sales colleagues. This person will work on PR campaigns that involve industry initiatives, partner programs, pushing small business success stories and product launches. This role requires excellent writing skills both in English and German, as well as the ability to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously. Strong organizational and management skills are both key to success in this role.

This is a full-time position based in Hamburg.

Required Skills:

  1. In collaboration with product, partnerships and sales teams, develop proactive communication plans for products and issues associated with Facebook's monetization products

  2. Conceptualize and execute creative SMB business PR campaigns with media and other partners

  3. Work cross-functionally with executives across the company as well as peers in communications including product, platform, monetization, corporate, international, policy, etc

  4. Drive positive press coverage in business print, regional media, tech and vertical trade press around Facebook’s mission of helping to connect, communicate and share in unprecedented ways

  5. Support proactive and reactive communications strategies and day-to-day media handling around all issues touching Facebooks marketing solutions

  6. Organize press briefings, media sessions and events and help executives deliver messages succinctly and articulately

  7. Build relationships with media, industry analysts, influencers and other external stakeholders

  8. Protect and enhance awareness of Facebook and its SMB programs in business media outlets

  9. Help manage external PR agencies and budgets

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Minimum bachelor’s degree

  2. Proven relevant professional experience, both agency and in-house preferred

  3. Ability to work well under pressure, with tight deadlines

  4. Strong project management and decision-making skills

  5. Experience in working with PR agencies and contractors

  6. Ability to think and communicate strategically with a variety of people

  7. Deep understanding and passion for Facebook is a must

  8. Excellent oral and written communications skills both in English and German
