Facebook seeks a highly motivated, experienced lawyer to serve as Associate General Counsel, Competition and Telecom (EMEA). This position will manage the company’s legal position and strategy on competition matters in Europe, as well as telecommunications regulation impacting the company’s product and business strategies around the globe. The position is based at the company’s London or Dublin offices although other locations in Europe would be considered. Required Skills:

  1. Manage legal strategy in connection with competition review of mergers and acquisitions by European regulators including DG Comp

  2. Represent company in connection with competition inquiries by regulators in the EU

  3. Develop and implement long-term competition strategy in EMEA in conjunction with Policy team

  4. Review and advise on pending and developing competition regulation

  5. Manage and provide legal advice regarding telecommunications laws and regulation in global markets and the impact on current and planned product and business initiatives

  6. Manage legal compliance with global telecommunications laws

  7. Develop legal analysis of proposed or developing telecommunications regulatory frameworks

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Solicitor or barrister (qualified to practice law in a European member state)

  2. Significant in-depth and related experience (9 + years) litigating complex commercial matters and representing companies in significant regulatory inquiries

    1. Significant competition experience, including engagement with applicable regulatory bodies in Europe

    2. Experience with telecommunications regulatory frameworks and regulatory developments affecting Internet-based services

    3. Data protection experience a plus

    4. First rate experience developing innovative and pragmatic approaches to complex legal challenges with a proven track record in providing concise and business-focused legal advice

    5. Experience working with web 2.0, social networking, and other Internet and technology companies

    6. Flexibility and eagerness to work on broad range of legal matters

    7. Excellent interpersonal skills with an absolute commitment to professionalism and collegiality

    8. Knowledge of, or fluency in, other European languages (German, French) a plus
