Summary:

Facebook is seeking a forward thinking experienced engineer to join the Data Center Operations Team. The person should enjoy working in a fast paced environment where adaptability and flexibility is key to their success. This position is full-time and will be based in Clonee, Ireland.

We seek an IT professional with advanced hands-on technical skills in Networks, Server Hardware and Linux (Ideally in a Data Center environment). Having depth and breadth knowledge of managing servers and performing complex projects in a large-scale distributed date center environment is a core competency of this individual.

The candidate should also have deep knowledge and experience in at least one of the following core areas: Networking, Project Management, Tool and Automation, Hardware and OS repair.

Required Skills:

  1. Responsible for assisting with all projects and repairs throughout the Data Center

  2. Work in teams to deploy new data center infrastructure.

  3. Understand and debug network, hardware, and Linux OS related issues

  4. Perform server upgrades, integration, rebuild and other projects as required

  5. Identify and help create documentation for the global DC knowledge base

  6. Track issues and analyze data looking for trends and systemic issues

  7. Be forward thinking to support all DC teams on to reduce potential risks to upcoming projects.

  8. Help identify specifications for tools that facilitate deployment and decommissioning of server hardware at scale

  9. Assist with process improvements and inform best practices in data center operations

  10. Display understanding of organizational structure and capability to work with cross functional teams on a given project.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS or BA in technical field or commensurate experience.

  2. 4-6 years of technical experience, preferably in a large-scale data center environment

  3. Comfortable with Linux and hardware systems support in an Internet operations environment.

  4. Familiarity with Python, SQL and/or shell scripting knowledge

  5. Experience managing multiple projects within the same time schedule.

  6. Should have a solid understanding of enterprise level networking and storage equipment installs.

  7. Should have an understanding of out-of-band/lights-out server communication methods, such as IPMI and serial console.

  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  9. Participate in on-call rotation

  10. Must possess excellent time and project management skills.

  11. Able to lift/move 20-30 lbs equipment on a daily basis.
