Facebook is seeking a Lead Critical Facility Engineer to join our data center facility operations team at our Ashburn, Virginia colocation site. Our data centers serve as the foundation upon which our software operates to meet the demands of our customers. The Lead Critical Facility Engineer is the point of contact for all tenant facilities related items in the colocation facility. This role requires a strong electrical background, as well as strong organization and communication skills.
Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of facilities, including the coordination of all corrective and preventive maintenance on Facebook equipment.
Work with local data center operations teams to plan and install power for server racks and network equipment.
Provide quality control oversight of electrical installations.
Schedule maintenance with building owner and internal teams.
Audit, maintain, and inspect equipment for proper power redundancy.
Coordinate with global construction and engineering teams for retrofit projects.
Coordinate DCIM installation, verification, and repair projects
Manage electrical vendors, including scheduling, reviewing proposals, and onsite coordination
Maintain current Facility Operations project list for colocation facility
Contribute information for operating budget
Operate as the qualified electrician onsite, including electrical troubleshooting and small electrical repairs.
Ensure electrical safety is maintained for all work
Maintain electrical test equipment and safety equipment.
Communicate with all groups in the colocation space, including building owner, data center operations teams, global support teams, and vendors.
Order material and coordinate deliveries as needed.
Audit cooling/floor tile placement in computer rooms
Respond to off-hour emergency calls.
5+ years electrical Journeyman level experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
Ability to read blueprints/CAD drawings
Familiar with Electrical, Mechanical and Fire Protection Systems typically used in a critical environment
Able to work at heights from ladders and lift/move up to 75 pounds.
3+ years data center experience
Trade certification or state license
